Design your course

You can choose more than 90 subjects in the New Zealand National Certificate of Education.

The New Zealand National Certificate of Educational Achievements consists of three levels and generally takes three years to complete. Students usually pass the first level in the Year 11 (15 years old), the second level in the Year 12(16 years old), and the third level in the Year 13 (17-18 years old).

The NCEA is a very flexible certificate that can be based on students’ abilities and interests. It also allows schools to offer a course of study based on students’ needs and then assess their level of learning according to criteria.

University expansion course

Some of the public schools in South Island will offer you university expansion courses which can:

• Help you enter the university you are applying for

• Increase your credits during the first year in college so you can graduate as soon as possible.

The grade on the National Certificate of Educational Achievement is accepted in all the universities in New Zealand and other countries, including China. This diploma is equivalent to the following high school diplomas:
